David Mota Veiga Teixeira Carmo

David Carmo is a Portuguese centre-back born in Aveiro in 1999. He developed in the academies of Beira-Mar and Benfica before returning to local football with Anadia and Sanjoanense, then joining SC Braga in 2015. Carmo progressed through Braga’s reserve side and made his first-team debut in January 2020 against FC Porto. His emergence was interrupted by a serious ankle injury in 2021, but he returned to help Braga win the Taça de Portugal that year. In July 2022, he moved to FC Porto, where competition for a starting place and a later disagreement with manager Sérgio Conceição limited his role. A loan to Olympiakos in January 2024 revived his career, and he helped the Greek club win the UEFA Europa Conference League. After representing Portugal at youth level, including the 2018 UEFA European Under-19 Championship, David Carmo chose Angola and joined their senior setup.
