David Akintola Idowu
David Akintola Idowu is a Nigerian defender who developed his professional career in Europe. Born on 23 June 2000, he was linked with Nigerian academy Real Sapphire before moving abroad. Idowu made his name with BFC Daugavpils in Latvia, where he played across several seasons from 2019 and reportedly made more than 90 appearances. During that spell, he also scored eight goals, underlining his threat beyond his primary defensive duties. He joined Bulgarian club Arda Kardzhali in October 2024, continuing his career in the First Professional League. Although registered as a defender, Idowu has also been used in defensive midfield, giving his team an additional ball-winning option. In Arda’s 2025 Conference League qualifying tie with HJK, he scored in a 2–2 draw before Arda advanced on penalties.
