Daniel Heuer Fernandes

Daniel Heuer Fernandes is a Portuguese goalkeeper born in Bochum on 13 November 1992. He began playing as a striker for local clubs VfB Langendreerholz and SV Langendreer 04 before moving into goalkeeping and joining VfL Bochum’s academy in 2008. After a season with Borussia Dortmund’s academy, he returned to Bochum and started his senior career with Bochum II. Heuer Fernandes made his professional breakthrough at VfL Osnabrück from 2013 to 2015, then spent the 2015–16 season with SC Paderborn. In 2016, he joined SV Darmstadt 98, where his performances in the second tier led to a move to Hamburger SV in 2019. At HSV, Daniel Heuer Fernandes has developed a distinctive role built around short distribution, playing through pressure and advancing from his line to sweep behind the defence. His reflex saves and positional play support that approach, while his continued presence at Hamburger SV reflects his importance to the team.
