Dayotchanculle Oswald Upamecano

Dayotchanculle Oswald Upamecano is a French centre-back born in Évreux on 27 October 1998. He developed at Valenciennes, where his early football included different positions before he established himself in defence. In 2015, Upamecano moved to Red Bull Salzburg and initially gained senior experience with FC Liefering in Austria’s second tier. He joined RB Leipzig in January 2017, beginning the Bundesliga phase of a rise that made him a regular in European competition. Upamecano helped Leipzig reach the 2019–20 Champions League semi-finals, using his pace and strength to defend space in a high line while contributing progressive distribution. Bayern München signed him in 2021, and he has since competed at centre-back for the German club. Upamecano also represents France, adding international experience to a career built through the Salzburg–Leipzig pathway.
