Dmitriy Shomko

Dmitriy Shomko is a Kazakhstan international left-back from Ekibastuz who plays on the left with his preferred left foot. He began his senior career with FC Batyr Ekibastuz in 2006, making 27 appearances in the Kazakhstan First Division and scoring once in 2007. In 2008, Shomko moved to Ekibastuzets before joining Irtysh Pavlodar in 2009. After spells with Irtysh from 2009 to 2010 and 2012 to 2013, he spent 2011 on loan at FC Astana, then known as Lokomotiv Astana. Shomko returned permanently in 2014 and helped Astana win six consecutive Kazakhstan Premier League titles from 2014 through 2019, while also featuring in the Champions League and Europa League group stages. For Kazakhstan, he has been used both as a left-back and further forward on the left, reflecting his positional versatility.
