Diadie Samassékou
Diadie Samassékou is a Malian defensive midfielder born in Bamako on 11 January 1996. He developed at the Jean-Marc Guillou Academy before playing for Real Bamako and representing Mali at the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, where the team reached the semi-finals. In August 2015, he joined Red Bull Salzburg’s system and initially played for FC Liefering in Austria’s second tier. Samassékou became a first-team regular at Salzburg, helping the club win three successive Austrian league titles and two Austrian Cups between 2016 and 2019. He also featured in Salzburg’s run to the 2017–18 Europa League semi-finals. In 2019, he moved to 1899 Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, later spending loan periods with Olympiakos Piraeus and Cádiz. Samassékou subsequently joined Houston Dynamo, while continuing to bring a screening presence, ball recovery and disciplined distribution to midfield.
