David Romney

David Romney is an American defender born in Irvine, California, on June 12, 1993. He developed with Irvine Strikers before playing college soccer for the University of San Francisco from 2011 to 2014. Undrafted in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, Romney joined LA Galaxy II and became the first player in Galaxy history to move from its USL affiliate to a first-team MLS contract. With the LA Galaxy from 2015 to 2019, he covered left-back, right-back and center-back roles. A 2019 move to Nashville SC began a three-season spell in which he established himself as a regular center-back, starting every match of Nashville’s inaugural 2020 campaign. Romney joined the New England Revolution in 2023 and played every minute of that MLS regular season, earning the club’s Defender of the Year award. He moved to San Jose Earthquakes in late 2024 and remains a 188-centimeter option for the club’s defense.
