Denys Popov

Denys Popov is a Ukrainian defender who plays for Dynamo Kyiv. Born in Mygiya on 17 February 1999, he developed at RVUFK Kyiv before joining Dynamo’s youth system. Between 2015 and 2018, Popov helped Dynamo win three consecutive Ukrainian Under-19 League titles. He made his senior debut against Mariupol in April 2019, beginning a professional career spent with the Kyiv club. Later that year, Popov helped Ukraine win the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Poland, scoring three goals in six matches before missing the final through suspension. A strong centre-back, he brings physical defending and aerial ability, while his aggression supports early challenges and interceptions. Popov reached 100 appearances for Dynamo in May 2024 and has since remained part of the club’s long-term plans, extending his contract through December 2030.
