Diego Ángel Luna

Diego Ángel Luna is an American midfielder known for his creative work between the lines. Born in Sunnyvale, California, on September 7, 2003, he developed in the San Jose Earthquakes academy before joining Barcelona Residency Academy in Arizona at 15. Luna began his professional career with El Paso Locomotive in the USL Championship in 2021, registering 13 goals and seven assists across 41 appearances. In June 2022, he moved to Real Salt Lake, where he established himself as an attacking midfielder capable of also operating centrally or from the wing. At RSL, Luna combines close control and ball protection with incisive passing, while his role has expanded to include more defensive work and pressing. He broke out in the 2024 MLS season, earning MLS Young Player of the Year honors after recording eight goals and eight assists. Luna has also become involved with the United States national team, strengthening his international profile.
