Diego Alexander Gómez Amarilla

Diego Alexander Gómez Amarilla is a Paraguayan central midfielder from San Juan Bautista, born on 27 March 2003. He developed in Club Libertad’s academy after joining the Asunción club in 2015 and made his senior debut against Caracas FC in the Copa Libertadores on 4 May 2022. Gómez established himself in Libertad’s midfield during 2022 before moving to Inter Miami in July 2023. In the United States, he developed into a dynamic box-to-box player, combining pressing and defensive work with forward runs, and was voted the top player in the 2024 MLS 22 Under 22 list. He represented Paraguay at youth level, captaining the under-23 side during its 2024 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament-winning campaign. Gómez became a senior international and scored his first Paraguay goal against Brazil in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on 10 September 2024. He joined Brighton in January 2025, continuing his progression in the Premier League.
