Declan Dunne

Declan Dunne is a Northern Irish goalkeeper who plays for Dungannon Swifts. He began as a midfielder at St Oliver Plunkett before taking up goalkeeping at 15 after an injury to his team’s regular goalkeeper. Within months, Dunne earned a place in a SuperCup side and a call-up to Northern Ireland’s Under-16 squad. He developed at Cliftonville and made his senior debut in April 2018, helping defeat Linfield 1–0 at Windsor Park. Dunne then spent the 2018–19 season on loan with Portadown before returning to Cliftonville, where he was part of the County Antrim Shield-winning squad in 2019–20. He joined Dungannon Swifts in January 2022 to pursue regular first-team football. In the 2025 Irish Cup final, Dunne saved two penalties against Cliftonville as Dungannon won the trophy. He has also represented Northern Ireland at Under-19 and Under-21 level.
