Danny Vieira da Costa

Danny Vieira da Costa is a German defender born in Neuss on 13 July 1993. He developed at DJK Winfriedia Mülheim before joining Bayer Leverkusen’s academy, where he progressed into senior football. Da Costa made his European debut against Atlético Madrid in the 2010–11 Europa League and his Bundesliga debut against Bayern Munich in September 2011. He then moved on loan to FC Ingolstadt 04, gaining regular experience and helping the club secure promotion to the Bundesliga in 2015. After returning to Leverkusen, he joined Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017 and established himself as an energetic right-sided defender and wing-back. His delivery helped create Ante Rebić’s winning goal in the 2018 DFB-Pokal final, while he was also part of Frankfurt’s 2022 Europa League-winning squad. Da Costa later continued his Bundesliga career with FSV Mainz 05, where his defensive experience supports a more versatile role.
