David Affengruber

David Affengruber is an Austrian centre-back, born in Scheibbs on 19 March 2001 and standing 185 centimetres tall. He began at SC Wieselburg before joining the Red Bull Salzburg academy, where he progressed through the age groups from 2015 to 2019. In 2019, he moved into senior football with FC Liefering, Salzburg’s development side. Affengruber made his Austrian Bundesliga debut for Red Bull Salzburg in January 2021 and collected league and cup winners’ medals that season. He then joined Sturm Graz, where three seasons brought Austrian Cup triumphs in 2023 and 2024, followed by the club’s 2023–24 Bundesliga title. A right-sided defender who can also operate in defensive midfield, David Affengruber combines proactive tackling with composed distribution from the back. In 2024, he moved to Elche and helped the Spanish club secure promotion from the Segunda División to LaLiga, while also representing Austria at under-21 level.
