Clinton Mukoni Mata Pedro Lourenço

Clinton Mata is an Angolan right-back born in Verviers, Belgium, on 7 November 1992. He developed through local clubs before joining KAS Eupen after seeking a trial in 2010, then making his professional debut in the Belgian second division in 2012. At Charleroi, Mata moved from midfield into a specialist right-back role and later strengthened his defensive reputation during a loan at Genk. He signed for Club Brugge in 2018, becoming a regular and winning three Belgian league titles between 2019 and 2022. Mata joined Lyon in July 2023, where he has continued as a right-sided defender. His pace and one-on-one ability have also enabled him to cover at centre-back when required. Born in Belgium but representing Angola, Clinton Mata committed to the national team in 2014 and returned in 2024.
