Christian Witzig

Christian Witzig is a Swiss midfielder who developed through Tägerwilen, FC Münchwilen and Wil before joining FC St. Gallen’s academy in 2015. He began appearing for St. Gallen’s reserve side in 2017 and spent almost four seasons with the U21 team. Witzig made his professional debut on 27 November 2021, entering late in a 3–1 defeat by Sion. Under Peter Zeidler, he became a regular starter during the 2022–23 season, often operating on the left side of a diamond midfield. In 2023–24, Witzig produced five league goals and nine assists as St. Gallen secured European qualification. His game combines dribbling, precise passing, crossing and forward ball progression with a willingness to contribute defensively. Witzig represented Switzerland at under-15, under-16 and under-17 level, including the 2018 European Under-17 Championship, before making his senior debut in late 2024.
