Çağlar Söyüncü

Çağlar Söyüncü is a centre-back born in İzmir, Türkiye, on 23 May 1996. He developed at Menemen Belediyespor, Bucaspor and Altınordu, where he was converted from a forward into a centre-back. At Altınordu, Söyüncü became a regular in the second tier and earned his first Türkiye call-up in 2016. He moved to SC Freiburg in 2016, gaining Bundesliga experience and attracting attention with his proactive defending. In 2018, Söyüncü joined Leicester City, initially waiting behind established centre-backs before becoming a prominent starter. His performances earned selection for the 2019–20 PFA Team of the Year, and he helped Leicester win the FA Cup and Community Shield in 2021. After leaving Leicester in 2023, he played for Atlético Madrid before returning to Türkiye with Fenerbahçe, his current club. A front-foot defender, Söyüncü combines physical duels, recovery pace, aerial timing and two-footed distribution.
