Cristian Roldan

Cristian Roldan is an American midfielder who developed in Southern California before becoming a Seattle Sounders mainstay. Born in Artesia, he starred for El Rancho High School, recording 54 goals and 31 assists in his senior season and winning the Gatorade National Player of the Year award. Roldan then spent two seasons at the University of Washington, where he was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Seattle selected him 16th overall in the 2015 MLS SuperDraft, and he made his professional debut that year. He helped the Sounders win the 2016 and 2019 MLS Cups, playing every minute of both title runs. In 2022, Roldan started every match as Seattle became the first MLS club to win the modern CONCACAF Champions League. He has also represented the United States and evolved from a wide player into a deeper, defensive midfield role.
