Clemens Riedel

Clemens Riedel is a German defender born in Wölfersheim on 19 July 2003. He began at SKV Obbornhofen, joined Eintracht Frankfurt’s academy after a trial at nine, and later developed with TSG Wieseck before moving to SV Darmstadt 98 in 2019. Riedel trained with Darmstadt’s senior team during the 2020–21 season and made his professional debut in July 2021, becoming the club’s first academy graduate in nine years to start a league match. In 2022–23, he played 19 league matches as Darmstadt finished runners-up and earned promotion to the Bundesliga. Riedel made his top-flight debut against Union Berlin in August 2023 and appeared 14 times that season. Primarily a centre-back, he has also operated at right-back and in defensive midfield. In August 2024, Riedel became Darmstadt captain, and he later moved to Espanyol in Spain.
