Carlos Joaquim Antunes dos Santos

Carlos Joaquim Antunes dos Santos is an American goalkeeper born in Philadelphia on 24 August 2000. He developed with Foxchase SC, Philadelphia SC and FC Delco before joining the Philadelphia Union Academy in 2013. In 2016, dos Santos moved to Portugal for Benfica’s academy, helping its under-19 side win the 2017–18 national championship before making his Benfica B debut in January 2021. He represented the United States at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup and travelled with the under-20 squad to the 2019 tournament. In December 2020, he received a senior USMNT training-camp call-up. Dos Santos joined Inter Miami in February 2022 and was part of its 2023 Leagues Cup and 2024 Supporters’ Shield-winning squads. San Diego acquired him in December 2024, and he became a primary starter in 2025, while also receiving a Cape Verde call-up for March 2026 matches.
