Carney Chibueze Chukwuemeka

Carney Chibueze Chukwuemeka is a central midfielder born in Eisenstadt, Austria, and raised in England. He began developing at Northampton Town before joining Aston Villa’s academy in 2016. Chukwuemeka signed his first professional contract in July 2020, helped Villa win the 2021 FA Youth Cup, and was named the club’s Academy Player of the Year. He moved to Chelsea in August 2022, where he scored against West Ham in August 2023. In early 2025, Chukwuemeka joined Borussia Dortmund on loan before making the move permanent for the 2025/26 season. At Dortmund, he has operated as a left-sided No. 8 or between the lines, using his 1.87-metre frame to protect possession and carry the ball forward. After representing England through under-19 level, he joined Austria’s senior squad in March 2026 and scored on his debut in a 5–1 win over Ghana.
