Christoph Baumgartner

Christoph Baumgartner is an Austrian attacking midfielder from Horn. He developed at SV Horn and the St. Pölten academy, where he twice finished as the Austrian Under-18 league’s leading scorer. In 2017, Baumgartner moved to 1899 Hoffenheim’s Under-19 side and made his Bundesliga debut against Werder Bremen in May 2019. He established himself during the 2019–20 season, contributing seven goals and six assists in 28 matches, and later became Hoffenheim’s Player of the Season in 2020. Baumgartner joined RB Leipzig in July 2023 on a contract running through June 2028, adding five goals and three assists in his first Bundesliga season there. He represented Austria at Euro 2020, scoring against Ukraine as Austria reached the knockout stage. In 2024, Baumgartner was named Austrian Footballer of the Year and scored against Slovakia after 6.3 seconds, widely reported as an international record.
