Birger Danny Verstraete

Birger Danny Verstraete is a Belgian midfielder from Oostende who developed through Club Brugge’s academy and made his professional breakthrough there. After limited league opportunities, he moved on to Kortrijk before establishing himself with Gent between 2017 and 2019. Verstraete’s performances at Gent led to a transfer to 1. FC Köln in 2019, giving him experience in the Bundesliga. He returned to Belgium in 2020 and joined Antwerp on loan, helping the club finish third in the league. Verstraete also represented Belgium at senior level, making his international debut in a 4–0 friendly victory over Scotland in September 2018. He later continued his career with clubs including Royal Excel Mouscron and KV Mechelen before becoming part of the OH Leuven squad. As a midfielder, Verstraete is noted for interceptions, aggressive defensive work and initiating transitions with his passing.
