Bouna Junior Sarr

Bouna Junior Sarr is a Senegalese footballer born in Lyon on 31 January 1992. He developed at FC Gerland and Olympique Lyonnais before joining Metz’s youth system in 2009. Sarr made his senior breakthrough with Metz, helping the club win the 2013–14 Ligue 2 title before leaving in 2015. He then spent five seasons with Marseille, where his responsibilities evolved during a spell that included the club’s run to the 2017–18 Europa League final. In 2020, Sarr moved to Bayern Munich and collected three Bundesliga titles, two German Super Cups and the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup. His opportunities in Bavaria were limited, but he remained part of a highly successful squad. After committing to Senegal in 2021, Sarr played in the team’s 2021 Africa Cup of Nations triumph, its first continental title, and later returned to Metz.
