Baptiste Santamaría

Baptiste Santamaría is a French midfielder born on 9 March 1995 in Saint-Doulchard. He developed in the Bourges area before joining Tours’ academy in 2011, making his Ligue 2 debut as a late substitute against CA Bastia in October 2013. Santamaría became a regular in the Tours midfield before moving to Angers in 2016, where he established himself in Ligue 1 through ball recovery, positional discipline and sustained work rate. In September 2020, he joined SC Freiburg and adapted to the Bundesliga, gaining experience in a faster, transition-focused environment. He returned to France with Rennes in 2021, continuing to operate as a disciplined central or defensive midfielder during the club’s European campaigns. Across these stages, Santamaría has been valued for screening the defence, anticipating danger and distributing securely, including longer passes that can launch attacks.
