Benjamin Jacques Marcel Pavard

Benjamin Jacques Marcel Pavard is a France international centre-back whose versatility has also seen him operate at right-back. Born in Maubeuge on 28 March 1996, he developed through Lille’s academy and made his Ligue 1 debut in January 2015. In 2016, Pavard joined VfB Stuttgart, where his positioning, composure and ability to play across the back line accelerated his progress. His form led to a move to Bayern München in 2019, and he became part of the side that completed the 2020 sextuple. Pavard scored in Bayern’s Club World Cup final victory over Tigres UANL, adding to a season of major team honours. For France, he scored a memorable volley against Argentina at the 2018 World Cup, a strike voted the tournament’s best goal. Now with Inter, Pavard is used primarily as the right-sided centre-back in a three-man defence, where he combines anticipation with clean distribution.
