Benjamin Craig Old

Benjamin Craig Old is a New Zealand midfielder born in Auckland on 13 August 2002. He developed with Forrest Hill Milford United, North Shore United and Hibiscus Coast before joining the Wellington Phoenix Academy in 2018. Old made his professional debut for Wellington Phoenix against Western United on 22 May 2021, then scored his first professional goal against Brisbane Roar in March 2022. After injury-disrupted seasons, he recorded five goals and four assists in 2023–24, becoming an important creative outlet. In July 2024, Old moved to Saint-Étienne on a four-year deal, initially arriving as an attacking midfielder or winger. He was later deployed at left-back, reflecting his growing positional versatility and the defensive demands of French football. Old debuted for New Zealand in March 2022, was included in the 2024 Olympic squad and has also represented New Zealand U23.
