Bernd Leno

Bernd Leno is a German goalkeeper born on 4 March 1992 in Bietigheim-Bissingen. He developed at VfB Stuttgart, progressing through the youth system and reserve team after initially taking up goalkeeping as a youngster. In 2011, Bayer Leverkusen brought Leno in on loan, and he soon established himself in the Bundesliga before the move became permanent. Across seven seasons in Leverkusen, Leno became a regular starter and gained Champions League experience. Arsenal signed him in 2018, where he eventually became first-choice goalkeeper and produced important saves during the 2019–20 campaign. After losing his place following the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale, Leno moved to Fulham in 2022. At Fulham, he has continued to anchor the defence with reactive shot-stopping and a focus on preventing goals, while generally favouring secure distribution over riskier passing. Leno has also been involved with Germany at senior international level, competing in a deep pool of goalkeeping talent.
