Bingourou Kamara

Bingourou Kamara is a Senegalese goalkeeper whose career has combined early positional change with important cup moments. Born in Longjumeau, France, in 1996, he began as a central defender at Sainte-Geneviève Sports and Brétigny Foot CS before moving into goal at age nine after an injury to his team’s goalkeeper. Kamara joined the Tours academy in 2012 and helped win the 2014 French Under-19 Championship, saving two penalties in the final against Évian Thonon Gaillard. He broke into Tours’ first team during the 2014–15 season at 18 and established himself in Ligue 2. Strasbourg recruited him in 2017, and although often second choice, he played every minute of their 2018–19 Coupe de la Ligue campaign, saving a shootout penalty in the final. After loan spells at Charleroi and a brief period with Montpellier, Kamara continued his career with Lorient. He has also been involved with Senegal and offers height, penalty-saving experience and command of the area.
