Bakery Jatta
Bakery Jatta is a Gambian midfielder born on June 6, 1998, in Gunjur, The Gambia. He grew up playing football without formal academy coaching, developing through street football before travelling to Germany as a refugee in 2015. After being noticed while playing for Bremer SV, Jatta moved into the Hamburger SV setup and signed his first professional contract after turning 18 in June 2016. He made his Bundesliga debut against Werder Bremen in April 2017, becoming the first refugee to play in the competition. Following Hamburg's relegation, Bakery Jatta established himself in the 2. Bundesliga, where his work rate and direct running made him a dependable wide option. At HSV, he has developed into a versatile midfielder capable of supporting attacks, pressing and tracking back. Jatta remains associated with Hamburger SV, linking a remarkable migration story to sustained professional football in Germany.
