Benjamin Matthew Godfrey

Benjamin Matthew Godfrey is an English centre-back who can also operate at full-back or in defensive midfield. Born in York, he developed at York City, briefly spent time at Middlesbrough, and returned to make his senior League Two breakthrough as a teenager. Norwich City signed Godfrey in 2016, and a loan at Shrewsbury Town in 2017–18 broadened his defensive and midfield experience. Back at Norwich, he became part of the team that won the Championship before moving to Everton in 2020. At Everton, Benjamin Matthew Godfrey used his pace and physical defending to cover space, while also filling multiple positions. He made his senior England debut in 2021, adding international recognition to his club progress. After joining Atalanta in 2024, he returned to England on loan with Ipswich Town and is now listed with Rangers.
