Baboucarr Gaye

Baboucarr Gaye is a Gambian goalkeeper born in Bielefeld, Germany, on 24 February 1998. He began at VfL Ummeln before joining Arminia Bielefeld’s academy in 2007, progressing to the club’s second team without appearing for the senior side. In 2019, Gaye moved to SG Wattenscheid 09, then briefly joined VfB Stuttgart II in January 2020. He found regular football with FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz, making 65 appearances across two seasons and helping the club win the Rheinland Cup in 2021. Gaye made his Gambia debut in a 1–0 victory over Congo in October 2020. He featured in Gambia’s run to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals, keeping two clean sheets. After joining Lokomotiv Sofia in 2023, Gaye moved to Shkëndija, becoming the first Gambian goalkeeper to play in the UEFA Conference League group and knockout stages.
