Bekim Balaj

Bekim Balaj is an Albanian centre-forward from Shkodër, born on 11 January 1991. He joined hometown club Vllaznia Shkodër at 11, beginning his football development in the city where he grew up. Although his father initially suggested that he try goalkeeping, coaches recognised Balaj’s coordination and footwork and moved him into attack. That decision established the role he has carried through his senior career, leading the line from the centre-forward position. Balaj later represented HNK Rijeka and became involved with Albania, extending his career beyond his native club and onto the international stage. He is now listed with Vllaznia Shkodër, bringing his experience back to the club that introduced him to the game.
