Brenden Russell Aaronson

Brenden Russell Aaronson is an American attacking midfielder from Medford, New Jersey, whose early development came through Philadelphia Union Juniors and his father’s Real Jersey FC setup. He bypassed a college career to sign a Homegrown contract with Philadelphia Union in 2018, making his professional debut in 2019 and scoring against Atlanta United. Aaronson became a key Union player and was selected to the 2020 MLS Best XI as Philadelphia won the Supporters’ Shield. In 2021, he moved to Red Bull Salzburg, where his pressing and movement helped the club secure consecutive league-and-cup doubles while he gained Champions League experience. Leeds United signed Aaronson in 2022, and he scored against Chelsea after pressuring goalkeeper Édouard Mendy into a turnover. Following Leeds’ relegation, he spent a period with Union Berlin before returning to Leeds. Aaronson has represented the United States and drives through midfield, operates between the lines, and applies persistent pressure.
