José Artur de Lima Junior

Artur, whose full name is José Artur de Lima Junior, is a Brazilian midfielder born in Brumado on 11 March 1996. He developed in the São Paulo academy and helped the club’s under-20 side win the Copa do Brasil Sub-20 twice and the 2016 U-20 Copa Libertadores. Artur made his senior breakthrough with São Paulo before moving to the Columbus Crew on loan in 2017. He became a regular in Columbus’s midfield and helped the Crew win the 2020 MLS Cup. In November 2022, Artur joined Houston Dynamo, where his responsibilities have centred on protecting the defence, contesting second balls and supporting build-up play. With Houston, he was part of the team that won the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, continuing a career shaped by ball recovery, measured passing and positional discipline.
