André Filipe Tavares Gomes

André Gomes is a Portuguese central midfielder born in Grijó on 30 July 1993. He developed in northern Portugal, spending part of his youth at Porto before moving through Boavista and joining Benfica in 2011. After featuring for Benfica B, Gomes made his senior-team debut in 2012 and helped Benfica win the domestic treble in 2013–14. He moved to Valencia in 2014, initially on loan, and established himself as a composed, progressive midfielder in La Liga. Barcelona signed André Gomes in 2016, where he won La Liga and two Copa del Rey titles while operating mainly as an interior midfielder. He joined Everton in 2018 and later continued his career with Lille, adapting from a dynamic ball-carrier into a deeper organiser who helped circulate possession. In February 2026, Gomes moved to Columbus Crew, adding European experience and positional intelligence to the MLS club.
