Álvaro Núñez Cobo

Álvaro Núñez is a Spanish defender from Bilbao who developed at CD Sondika before joining Athletic Club’s Lezama academy in 2010. After completing his youth training, he moved into Athletic Club’s development sides, playing for CD Basconia and Athletic Bilbao B before leaving in 2022. He then spent the 2022–23 season with Barcelona B, gaining further experience as a regular reserve player. Núñez began his senior professional career with Amorebieta, making his Segunda División debut in August 2023. At Elche, he became an important right-back during the club’s 2024–25 promotion campaign and made his La Liga debut in August 2025. In February 2026, Álvaro Núñez moved from Elche to Celta Vigo, where he continues his top-flight progression. Comfortable as a full-back and capable of contributing to build-up, he has advanced through Spain’s league structure by combining defensive responsibility with steady positional development.
