Aitor Fernández Abarisketa

Aitor Fernández Abarisketa is a Spanish goalkeeper born in Arrasate on 3 May 1991. He joined Athletic Club’s Lezama academy at 12, progressing through its youth ranks before making his senior debut for CD Basconia in 2008. By 2010, he had moved into Athletic’s reserve setup and trained with the first team, although injuries interrupted his progress. After leaving Athletic in 2013, Fernández spent three seasons with Villarreal B before joining CD Numancia in 2016. In Soria, he developed from a reserve option into a regular starter and earned attention in the Segunda División. Levante signed him in 2018, and he made his La Liga debut against Getafe in February 2019; that year he was recognized as the league’s leading save maker. Since joining Osasuna in 2022, Aitor has provided experienced competition in goal, combining close-range reflexes with proactive movement off his line and long distribution.
