Abner Vinícius da Silva Santos

Abner, whose full name is Abner Vinícius da Silva Santos, is a Brazilian left-back born in Presidente Prudente on 27 May 2000. He developed with Grêmio Desportivo Prudente and Mogi Mirim before joining Ponte Preta in 2017. Abner made his senior debut for Ponte Preta in 2019 and moved to Athletico Paranaense later that year. In Curitiba, he established himself as a regular left-back and was part of the squads that won the 2019 Copa do Brasil and 2021 Copa Sudamericana. He also represented Brazil’s under-23 side at the Tokyo Olympics as the team won gold. Abner moved to Real Betis in January 2023, gaining La Liga and Europa League experience. In July 2024, he joined Lyon, where his left-sided defending and ability to operate as a full-back or wing-back continued to develop, while he made his senior Brazil debut against Chile in October 2024.
