Abdullah Iqbal

Abdullah Iqbal, born 27 July 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a Pakistan international defender known for his 1.92 m frame and left-footed game. He developed in Danish systems, rising through the youth ranks at Brøndby IF and Boldklubben af 1893 (B93) before advancing to B93’s senior side around 2021. His defending, aerial command and ball-playing from the back earned him a move to Mjällby AIF. In August 2024, Iqbal joined Allsvenskan club Mjällby AIF for around €200,000, signing a contract through 2028. Primarily a centre-back, he can cover left-back or a defensive midfielder when required. He captains the Pakistan national team, representing his country with growing impact on the international stage. In 2025 he helped Mjällby win the Swedish league title. He then featured for Mjällby AIF in UEFA Champions League qualifying in mid-2026, becoming the first active Pakistan international to participate in the competition. By mid-2026 his market value had reached about €3 million, reflecting his rising status as a key defensive asset in European football.
