Asger Strømgaard Sørensen

Asger Strømgaard Sørensen is a Danish centre-back born in Silkeborg on 5 June 1996. Standing 1.91 metres tall, he developed in Denmark before moving to Red Bull Salzburg in 2014. At Salzburg, Sørensen came through the club’s development pathway and gained senior experience before seeking regular football in Germany. He later joined 1. FC Nürnberg, where he established himself in the second tier as a dependable defender. In July 2022, he transferred to Sparta Praha, where his role grew in a title-winning side. Sørensen helped Sparta win the Czech First League in 2022–23, their first championship since 2014, and was named both Defender of the Season and Foreign Player of the Season. He also represented Denmark from under-16 through under-21 level, including the 2019 European Under-21 Championship. At Sparta, Asger Sørensen combines height and aerial strength with composed distribution from the back.
