Alexander Schlager

Alexander Schlager is a goalkeeper born in Salzburg in 1996. He began with ASK Salzburg before joining the Red Bull Football Academy, where he won three Austrian youth league titles at U16 and U18 level. Schlager entered senior football through RB Leipzig’s under-19s in 2014/15 and a loan at SV Grödig, making his Austrian Bundesliga debut in 2015. After 23 appearances for Floridsdorfer AC in 2016/17, he joined LASK Linz permanently in 2017. During six seasons at LASK, Schlager made 213 appearances, won the 2019/20 Austrian Bundesliga Goalkeeper of the Season award and helped the club reach the Europa League group stage and finish second in 2018/19. He returned to Red Bull Salzburg on a free transfer in May 2023 and helped the club win the 2023/24 and 2024/25 Bundesliga titles. For Austria, he captained the under-21 side at the 2019 European Championship and made his senior debut in November 2019, while knee surgery in 2024 ruled him out of Euro 2024.
