Amir Saipi

Amir Saipi is a Swiss goalkeeper born in Schaffhausen on 8 July 2000. He developed through FC Schaffhausen, FC Winterthur and Grasshoppers before entering senior football with Grasshoppers’ under-21 side in 2018–19. Saipi returned to Schaffhausen in 2019 and made his professional debut in Switzerland’s Challenge League. His career took a decisive step in September 2021, when he joined FC Lugano on a five-year contract. At Lugano, he progressed into a regular first-choice goalkeeper and helped the club win the Swiss Cup in 2021–22, while also gaining experience in UEFA Champions League qualifying and the Europa and Conference Leagues. Standing 1.94 metres tall, Saipi combines conventional line-saving with proactive distribution and sweeper-keeper duties. He represented Switzerland at under-21 level at the 2023 European Championship, then made his senior debut for Kosovo in October 2024 and subsequently featured in Nations League and World Cup qualifying matches.
