Alvas Elvis Powell

Alvas Elvis Powell is a Jamaican defender, primarily a right-back, born in Danvers Pen on July 18, 1994. He developed in Jamaica and made his senior breakthrough with Portmore United before moving on loan to the Portland Timbers in 2013. Powell became the youngest player in Timbers MLS history to start a match, aged 19 years and 16 days, and was part of the side that won the 2015 MLS Cup. He later left Portland after establishing himself as a regular and joined expansion club FC Cincinnati in 2019. Inter Miami selected Powell in that year’s Expansion Draft, and his subsequent career also included spells with Al-Hilal in Sudan and the Philadelphia Union. Internationally, Powell represents Jamaica and helped the Reggae Boyz reach the Gold Cup final in 2015 and 2017. He is currently with FC Cincinnati, bringing recovery pace, one-on-one defending and experience to the back line.
