Arild Østbø

Arild Østbø is a Norwegian goalkeeper born in Stavanger on 19 April 1991. He developed with Buøy IL and Vidar FK before joining Viking’s senior setup in 2008, making his first-team debut in the Norwegian Football Cup that year. Loan spells with Sandnes Ulf, Start and Strømmen gave him regular experience during the early stages of his career. With Start, Østbø helped win the 2012 OBOS-ligaen title. He left Viking for Sarpsborg 08 in 2015 and moved to Rosenborg in 2017, where he contributed to a successful period that included Eliteserien titles in 2017 and 2018 and Norwegian Cup honours. Østbø returned to Viking in 2020, bringing experience from Norway’s top level to his hometown club. In 2025, he made 12 appearances as Viking won the Eliteserien, adding a championship achievement to a career shaped by patience, competition and repeated returns to the Stavanger area.
