Alexander Nübel

Alexander Nübel is a German goalkeeper born in Paderborn in 1996. He developed at SC Paderborn 07 and reportedly played as a forward until the under-14 level before moving permanently between the posts. Nübel joined FC Schalke 04 in 2015 and broke into the first team during the 2018–19 season, eventually becoming the club’s captain at 22. In 2020, he moved to Bayern München on a free transfer, but limited opportunities behind Manuel Neuer restricted him to four appearances in his first season. He then spent two seasons on loan at Monaco, where regular football brought 97 appearances and consecutive Ligue 1 podium finishes. Since 2023, Nübel has represented VfB Stuttgart, helping the club finish second in the Bundesliga in 2023–24 while recording 11 clean sheets. Standing 1.93 metres tall, Alexander Nübel combines reach and reflexes with proactive positioning and distribution suited to a modern sweeper-keeper.
