Andy Aryel Najar Rodríguez
Andy Aryel Najar Rodríguez is a Honduran midfielder born in Choluteca on 16 March 1993. He moved to the United States at 13 and joined the D.C. United Academy in 2008, emerging as a leading youth prospect. In March 2010, Najar signed with D.C. United as the club’s second homegrown player and won MLS Rookie of the Year after scoring five goals. He moved to Anderlecht in 2013, becoming the first MLS homegrown player transferred permanently to a European club. With the Belgian side, Najar developed from a winger into a right-sided wingback and won three league titles. In 2014, he scored for Anderlecht against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League, becoming the first Honduran to score in the competition. After returning to MLS with Los Angeles FC and later D.C. United, he also played for CD Olimpia and is now associated with Nashville SC.
