Alexander Niklas Meyer-Schade

Alexander Niklas Meyer-Schade is a German goalkeeper born in Bad Oldesloe on 13 April 1991. He began playing with VfL Oldesloe before joining Hamburger SV in 2005, later appearing for Hamburger SV II between 2009 and 2012. Meyer moved to TSV Havelse in 2012 and spent four seasons there, building extensive experience in the Regionalliga Nord. A spell with Energie Cottbus in 2016–17 preceded his transfer to VfB Stuttgart, although injuries prevented him from making a senior appearance for the club. His professional breakthrough came with Jahn Regensburg, where he made his 2. Bundesliga debut in July 2019 and established himself as a commanding goalkeeper comfortable contributing to build-up play. In July 2022, Meyer joined Borussia Dortmund, where he serves as a reliable alternative to Gregor Kobel. He made his Dortmund debut against Copenhagen in the Champions League in September 2022, keeping a clean sheet, and continues to offer height, composure and assured distribution.
