Alex Meret

Alex Meret is an Italian goalkeeper born in Udine on 22 March 1997. He developed with Donatello Calcio before joining the Udinese youth system in 2012, beginning the pathway that led to senior football. Meret moved to SPAL on loan, where he established himself between 2016 and 2018 and helped the club win the 2017 Serie B title before playing in Serie A. Napoli signed him in 2018, and he initially shared goalkeeping duties while competing for a regular role. His breakthrough came in 2022/23, when he became Napoli’s first-choice goalkeeper, made 34 league starts and recorded 17 clean sheets as the club won its first Serie A title in 33 years. Meret remained with Napoli and was part of the side that secured another Serie A championship in 2024/25. Standing 1.90 metres tall, Alex Meret is noted for reflex saves and distribution, while he has also been involved with Italy.
