Alan Agustín Matturro Romero

Alan Agustín Matturro Romero is a Uruguayan defender from Montevideo, born on 11 October 2004. He joined Defensor Sporting’s academy at 12, initially playing as a centre-forward before moving into the back line. Matturro made his senior debut for Defensor Sporting in 2021 and helped the club earn promotion from Uruguay’s Segunda División. His development continued with Uruguay’s under-20 side at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina, where he operated primarily at left-back despite his centre-back profile. Uruguay won the tournament, while Matturro received the Silver Ball and assisted the decisive goal against Gambia in the round of 16. Genoa signed him in January 2023 after his performances attracted European interest. At 1.89 metres, Matturro offers defensive strength and can cover both central and left-sided roles.
