Archie Matthews
Archie Matthews is an English goalkeeper born in Bath on 2 August 2001. He developed at Swindon Town and gained senior experience on loan with AFC Totton, Thatcham Town and Melksham Town between 2019 and 2021. In February 2021, Matthews made an unexpected Football League debut for Swindon against Northampton Town, recovering from an early error to help secure a 2–1 win. Released by Swindon later that year, he joined Birmingham City and also spent time on loan at Bath City and Gloucester City. Matthews moved to Swansea City in July 2022, where work on his footwork and distribution complemented his shot-stopping and vocal organisation. A January 2023 loan to Oxford City ended when he suffered an ACL injury during his third appearance, beginning a lengthy rehabilitation. He returned through a loan at Penybont in January 2024, briefly played for Wealdstone, and joined Penybont permanently in August 2025.
